The ceiling is dripping in Huntington Beach
If water is coming through the ceiling right now, the useful work is catching it, staying out from under a bulge, and getting a person to the house. A form can wait.

In the next few minutes
- Move beds, sofas, and anything paper or wood out of the drip line. Put a bucket or a trash can under the stream, and a towel under the bucket so splatter does not spread.
- Keep people and pets out from under a sagging bubble. Wet drywall can let go in one sheet, and the water above it comes with it.
- If the drip is at a light, a can light, or a ceiling fan, do not flip that switch. If you can reach the breaker without standing in water, turn that circuit off.
- Do not stab the bulge with a screwdriver or a broom. That is how a controlled drip becomes a collapse onto a wet floor.

What is probably happening above you
Rain in Huntington Beach finds pipe boots, skylights, and flat-roof seams first. A drip with no rain is more often a supply line, a shower above, or an air-conditioner drain. Either way, the paint film can hold a puddle for a while and then fail. The brown water is often tannin from wet wood and roofing felt, not sewage, but it still stains everything it hits.
Insulation will keep releasing water after the storm eases. A drip that “stops” at midnight and starts again at dawn is often that sponge, not a new hole. If you are in a condo or a Harbour townhouse
Shut off the water to the unit if the drip lines up with a bath or kitchen and you know where the valve is. Tell the neighbor above, and the association if the roof is common property. The ceiling on your side still should not be patched until their side has stopped contributing water.
After the drip slows
Leave the bucket. Do not paint. Do not screw the belly flat. Note the time it started and whether it was raining. That note is the most useful thing you can hand the person who shows up. If the board is hanging, read sagging ceiling repair so you know why it has to be cut out rather than pushed up.
